Buttons

With tapestry needle and black, and using straight stitches (see illustration), embroider 1 4-sts-long line between rnds 29 and 30 and 1 4-sts-long line between rnds 31 and 32.

Nose

Work same as Nose for Male Gnome.

Hat

Work same as Hat for Male Gnome.

Arm

Make 2.

Work same as Arm for Male Gnome.

Braids

Cut 6 12-inch strands of bulky white yarn. Fold 3 strands in half. Insert hook in a lp between rnds 33 and 34 of body, pull folded end through, pull ends through fold, pull ends to tighten knot. Rep with rem 3 strands, inserting hook in lp on opposite side of body. Braid ends of each. Cut 2 6-inch lengths of bright red to secure braids and attach to body so they stay in place. Trim ends. •
